Pushing Daisies Synopsis
The facts were these: Pushing Daisies starred Lee Pace as Ned, a young man who discovers as a boy that he can bring the dead back to life with one touch. However, his gift has drawbacks. If he brings someone back to life, someone else must die. If he touches the revived person again, they die.
When Charlotte “Chuck” Charles, his childhood sweetheart, is murdered, Ned makes the uncharacteristically impulsive choice to bring her back to life. Chuck and Ned can never touch but they manage to develop a poignant romance anyway.
Chuck helps Ned at his pie shop, The Pie Hole, and also assists him in solving murders with Emerson Cod, a private investigator, and Olive Snook, a waitress at The Pie Hole. Meanwhile, the team tries to prevent Chuck’s aunts, Lily and Vivian, from discovering their niece is back from the dead.
Pushing Daisies was acclaimed for its whimsical, fairy tale-style storytelling and brightly colored visual style. Unfortunately, the audiences didn’t come with the acclaim. After the writers’ strike halted the first season’s momentum, the series was cancelled in season two with three episodes still in the can.
