Everywhere I turn now I see an advertisement for a website with a .tv domain extension. On the radio I hear ads for MLB.tv, Major League Baseball’s video service, while on TV I see ads for TNT.tv. while watching Law & Order.
As it turns out, there is a good reason for all the .tv talk. According to Verisign, the .tv top level domain is the fastest growing domain in the last year, with over a 100 percent growth. Verisign attributes the growth of the domain to the explosion of online video.
It does not take much to realize this is a trend not going away anytime soon, with new sites like VatorTV popping up all the time. The .tv Showcase shows that a lot of major companies have developed .tv websites to indicate the presence of web tv or videos. Over the next year, the .tv domain will become even more mainstream.
