Ubuket – Allowing Multimedia Playlists To Be Created & Shared | Muxtape, Grooveshark

1 min read

Ubuket LogoUbuket is a new Web application which allows you to compile
music, video and photos in to playlists.

Following on from the successes of MuxTape and Grooveshark, it
gives users an easy way of pulling these various media from places
online and on your PC, including video sites such as YouTube.

Ubuket is
quite easy to use. Once
you sign up you can grab songs or videos from a variety of places,
including your
computer, and turn them into playlists for sharing with your friends,
co-workers, blog readers or site visitors.

Competitors

It is not as quick as MuxTape
with its 12 song load limit, and not as complex as Grooveshark with its
monetized playlists and review sytem.

You can embed your Ubuket and access it or add to it from a
variety of places. It has web applications with
FaceBook, Bebo, MySpace,
the Ubuket site, your desktop via Adobe Air and now the iPhone as
well.

Great Looking Interface

The web application is a sleek looking player interface. My
only
complaint with it is that is came up very small on my monitor and there
was no way to make it larger.

More interesting than where and how you can share your Ubuket
playlists is where you can get the music. You can upload it from your
computer, find it on Seeqpod,
or grab it from Flickr,
YouTube, Last.FM
and more.

The quality of the playback is surprisingly good, although
they have an annoying equalizer type graphic that flickers while a song
is playing that I wasn’t fond of.

Video Features

The video feature is a nice one, as it will grab videos from
links to add to the
playlist, saving you the time and hassle of uploading, though just as
with the music you can grab files from your computer as well.

The purpose of Ubuket is to streamline your multimedia
experience,
pulling in your multimedia files and favourites from all over the
web.

It does it quite well, meaning that you can share your
enriched life
and interests with more of the social web than ever before, or just
take your media stream with you to enjoy on the go. Ubuket gets a
thumbs up from me – it’s definitely something I’ll be going back to.
