KateModern, an interactive Web television series, created by EQAL exclusively for the social networking site Bebo is set to end on June 28th.
That will signal the end of series 2, and the makers have decided to leave it there although they haven’t ruled out reprising the drama at sometime in the future.
The series was the follow up to the viral hit LonelyGirl15, which fooled many in to thinking it was a real video diary rather than a carefully written and produced show.
An Extraordinary Life
KateModern starred Alexandra Weaver and Ralf Little, and followed avid blogger Kate in her ordinary life which turns out to be extraordinary after all.
The series was very popular, managing to average 1.5 million viewers per episode, with the 300 four-minute episodes racking up more than 57 million views so far.
More To Come
Bebo president, Joanna Shields, told The Guardian that KateModern has “created a new genre and demonstrated the power of media on a social network with gripping storylines and peerless production values”.
The show’s creators Miles Beckett and Greg Goodfried have recently raised $5 million in funding for their EQAL company, so we can expect many more Web TV series from the pair in the future.
