The term YouTube killer is one that we are probably going to become annoyingly familiar with over the next few years and the latest to step up to the sound-bite is Megavideo.
The new online video sharing site based in Hong Kong, has placed ten reasons it is better than YouTube on its homepage in what doesn’t at all come across like a cynical marketing ploy *ahem*.

Can Megavideo Live up to its Claims?
We are not going to get all bogged down with ‘evidence’ on this, but we are thinking that reason number ten might be a tricky one to prove. In any case the site’s lack of banner advertisements is refreshing as are some of the more advanced features.
The company (whose fondness for bombastic adjectives also brought us Megaupload) intends to generate revenue by charging for premium features such as the ability to upload huge videos (up to 5GB) and download videos instead of streaming them.
All in all, Megavideo sounds like a thoughtful competitor for YouTube, whether it has the grapes to really take on the Google owned video monolith is another matter entirely.
