Avot mV is a new free application which allows users anywhere to watch their favourite clips from a whole host of video sharing websites.
The program works on a host of cell phones and PDAs, and is currently in Beta public testing.
You can either download the small program (currently Version 1.2) or point your mobile browsers at the Avot Mobile Site.
Then the whole range of online videos becomes available to you on the move, whether they be on hosting sites such as YouTube and Dailymotion, or embedded on other websites and blogs.
The simple brilliance of the application doesn’t end there though, as well as being able to watch videos, you can organize them into playlists, as well as topics like sports and music, essentially making your mobile device of choice a kind of video jukebox for all occasions.
No Transcoding Problems To Overcome
This type of delivery system has in the past made videos look and sound terrible by transcoding them to play on your device. Avot mV however streams the videos directly from their source, meaning end users get to watch a higher quality video than has previously been possible.
J. Gerry Purdy, Ph.D. and Chief Analyst at Frost & Sullivan is quoted on the Avot Blog as saying:
“Finally, a company has found a way to play any Internet video on a mobile phone,”
“Avot Media not only can play any Internet video but do it better than any other company as well as providing an easy and convenient way to search for relevant videos and aggregate them into play lists that are then streamed to the mobile device.”
Avot Media have created a patented codec which overcomes network latency and bandwidth limitations on your mobile device, essentially meaning the videos will zip across to you in as short a time as is humanly possible.
Avot mV currently works across all EDGE, 3G carriers and EV-Do data networks, and support for other cellphones is on the way over the next few months. So even if this application is no use to you now, you can be relatively sure support will be provided over time.
Avot mV Demo Videos
Before you start playing with this innovative application, you may want to check out these two demo videos from YouTube, which show quite conclusively how easy and intuitive the system is for those with even an ounce of technical understanding or ability.
There is also the Avot Blog which provides regular updates on the service, including new releases and phone coverage.
This application could really take mobile video to the next level, with high quality streaming clips from all over the web being sent directly to your mobile device.
If you’ve seen enough and want to have a go, just point your mobile browser to AvotMedia Mobile Site and start watching your favorite online videos now.
