We reviewed Avot mV back at the beginning of October, and were enthusiastic by how simple yet brilliant the application was.
Since then, the free program seems to have evolved, and added new features, as well as support for some more mobile devices, including the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch.
For those too busy, or lazy to read the original review, it is in a nutshell a small application which once downloaded from the Avot mV – product site, allows you to view videos unlimited, and unhindered on your mobile device.
Great Support – Now Includes iPhone
As well as the previously mentioned iPhone and iPod Touch, the app works with a large number of other cellphones and PDAs.
The Avot mV program allows you to watch videos from a diverse range of video sharing sites, with that list populated by YouTube, MySpace, DailyMotion, 5min, ABC, and ESPN to name just a few.
Until Avot mV came along, getting videos from the web on to your mobile phone was quite a long and frustrating experience, with content often blocked by wireless carriers, and streaming videos impossible on many devices.

Apart from downloading anything, you also have the choice of visiting the website directly and running Avot mV as a web based application, which is how the program manages to work on the iPhone.
In fact, Apple were so pleased with the support offered to its state of the art mobile phone, it was featured on its homepage as a ‘Staff Pick’.

How It Works In Practice
Visiting the site through your mobile gives you instant access to millions of videos, and you then have a number of options open to you, to make sure you get to the video, or topic you desire.
To start with, you see thumbnails of the videos, and by using the intelligent search function, the site will help you narrow down your options, and find exactly what you are looking for.
Videos are quick to load, and look fantastic, maintaining all of the quality that you would get on the site itself.
Wi-Fi Is Best Option
As long as your phone supports Wi-Fi, EDGE, 3G or EV-DO, then it should be able to use Avot mV. Wi-Fi seems to be the best option however, with EDGE causing some loss of download speed.
Apart from the search function, there are also channels, and options to personalize the experience to a certain degree.
Unfortunately the channels are rather underpopulated at this moment in time, but with the program still in beta testing, this is sure to be improved over time.
